Anybody replaced the stock dash & rear speakers with a size other than 4"? I'm building my new system, and really don't like the choices available in the 4" size. I'm looking to a 5.25". The thought process is a set of components in the front in 5.25", and rear 4" speakers.

I have a 4ch amp. The fronts will run off the amp, the rears off the head unit. The sub will be run off the rear amp output bridged.

I think I was able to stuff 5.25s in the back at one point. I don't remember what those were though.....maybe Cerwin-Vegas.....

I use 4" in front and 5,25" at the rear in the stock boxes, then added 6.5" splits to the front doors and 6x9" to the rear boot cover

Will 5.25 fit in the front boxes?

No, you'd have to cut the boxes and I don't think the covers would go over the speakers

I think i have 5" replacements in front, they're not that great. Ill measure tomorrow
2 6x9 MTX speakers in the parcel shelf, they kick hard. Never used the stock rear boxes, they were out of action when i got the car
and a nice 12" sub in the boot for good measure.
    Never misses a beat

    EDIT

    Nope 4" in front

Shaun on here replaced my speakers for me (TOP man, Shaun!)
...oh, and mines a convertible so slightly different to a coupe...

He replace the 3.25" front speakers (coz I didn't want to tamper with the sealed speaker box)
but replaced the rear 4" with 5.25" by just removing the original speaker bolts and fixing the new speakers straight on:
