    just got 85 st162 but but the over drive is not working spiderman told me that you bolkes know about this stuff ..the over drive light on dash justs blinks on and off .can u help me please .

    Let me clarify......

    I saw this dude driving along the road and pulled him over and spent an hour chinwagging :lol

    His car is an Auto and what he is saying is that 4th won't engage, the gearbox was replaced with what I think he said was a corolla box or something and I see there are 2 wire plugs just hanging ?

    I didn't hop in the car with him for a drive but I'll guess that it's the CEL that is flashing ?

    I will get him over to my place for a comparison with mine and try to give you lads a better understanding with pics etc......

    did you bridge the terminal to see what engine code is flashing?

    there is a sensor on the coolant neck (red 1 pin i believe) that sends a signal to the autoECU. if you dig deep into the owner's manual it says that 4th gear will not engage if the coolant is not hot enough. this was true on my old FE/auto. it only went to 4th gear after there was some movement in the temp gauge.

    my guess is that this sensor is busted or unplugged that the autoECU thinks it's still cold.
