I have an 87 Celica Hatchback standard. I have the acquired amount of funds to buy the engine with transmission, ecu, and wiring harness. Company will also throw in starter, fuel rail, throttle body, intake manifold, etc. Does this require ANY modification to put into the st162 chassis? IF so, may someone tell me what I need before I make this purchase? Parts or anything I'm needed to acquire to make the engine work.

Plan on doing this month for sure! Please and thank you in advance!

    Beams engine swap into st162

The good news is that the engine angle, engine mounts... Transmission drive shafts... All match up. The bad thing for us US car owners is that the Beams engine wiring loom doesn't work with the US chassis. Your best best is to get the full 96" harness with any aftermarket ecu. The Haltech Elite series looks pretty nifty, as does the link G4 and ViPec v88. To take advantage of the beams high compression, you might consider your build as an e85 application and check out ecu's that support flex fuel. People, have gotten a lot out of the beams motor with just cams and exhaust, e85 and a good tune. There is a guy in Australia who also sells custom c/r Pistons for the beams motor. I believe they are 14:1. You can also find forged Pistons for beams motors from JE and CP for around $600 per set, if you are thinking turbo build. I myself will be building up a turbo application for a 1988 gt-s hatchback.

I bought a fairly complete SS3 Gen6 car for the swap into mine.Without the gen6 loom it will be a pain,I kept my original clocks as well but my wiring guru found it a PITA,the Beams ECU runs from the tach on the Beams clocks,so the easy way is to use the Beams clocks unit with the car.you'll need a separate loom to incorporate your pop up lights back into the system as well.I know its not always possible but to have the donor car to hand is a godsend,my car runs the SS3 loom and there are a lot of small bits like sensors you need to make sure come with the motor package. Some of these do get broken when people remove engines and you're stuffed if one isnt present or is broken.Make sure you get the header and downpipe as well as they are Beams specific.

Use genuine parts as much as you can.

Also used the Beams fuel pump

try and use the standard airbox if you can,the Beams is very sensitive to the intake side and doesnt like big cone filters as much as a performance panel filter in the standard airbox.

    Its all worth it.

By the way transmission would be great if its an S54 06D box with LSD like I have.
