[REPOSTED 2016] My 2nd celi as shown and purchased in 2010 as the 2nd owner with 132K (barely running). After quite some time/ $, the celi is running much better and has become the winter DD and possibly the 'verts motor donor. Engine mechanical/cooling/charging/starting etc. restoration is currently in effect and planned to continue for the swap. Much thanks goes out to this forum and members for ALL their help and support, I couldn't have done it without you guys
I need to update this thread more since much was lost, but that will have to wait since there's been MORE recent drama :roll Bad News first... long story short, the celi was backed into while it was parked causing $600+ damage :toetap05 I was pretty pissed not because it happened, because the individual tried to weasel out of it. It didn't matter though, I had proof and a witness :cop Adding insult to injury, I found out the hard way that the entire lower 1/4 is bondo :aargh The good news is... the celi driveable, it isn't totalled and the $ will go to good use as the 'vert will be getting new suspension parts. Recon of the 3sge will continue as planned dispite the minor set back  You can't see much in the photo, but it's there :sad5
What is it with peeps running into driver's side Celi quarter panels !!!!! :aargh :banghead . I hope you get everything settled soon... The 'Verts carry a special tone with me, and I hate seeing them hurt more than the rest.... :cry
Tell me about it. After I had just waxed the Celi for the first time, some truck backed into it several year ago. :cuss :aargh Keep up the good work 89Celicagt! :cool
Thanks guys :cheers I'm glad it happened with the GT-S and not the vert, I would've cried ops good thing she's still hibernating for the winter The verts getting another present Wed, but I'm not going spill the beans just yet until I know for sure. I'll post up on my other thread when it's a done deal :naughty
YES you guessed it, more repair fun :toetap05 I was driving home from work yesterday when the temp gauge started getting unhappy :roll Luckily, I wasn't far from home so I got there without incident. I bought a new t-stat today and it's installed now so I trust things will go back to normal. I probably should've done this sooner assuming the ORIGINAL t-stat was still on the car WHICH IT WAS :banghead I decided to order a new fan switch/temp sensor while I was at it also. The part should be here Monday for me to install as well :fingersx
I have the new fan switch/temp sensor, but it doesn't quite look like the original :ugh Can anyone tell me if this is a revised part or something - the new 1 has 2x the length? It fits OK, but I don't want to drive the car with it in unless I know it's the correct part. This is a NAPA replacement part if that's even relevant. Anyone? :fingersx
id be surprised if you have any problems. i personally would fit it. run the car until it reaches normal operating temp and ensure the thermos kick in (remember they can take a while sometimes when its just idling.) If that works fine take it for a drive keeping a very close eye on the temp guage. including giving it a bit of stick here and there. and see how you go
I don't think that's the correct part - meter them with a gauge to make sure That looks like a BVSV switch
The new NAPA parts seems to be OK (I get readings on the dash) so I guess I'm good LOL :fingersx Thanks for everyones help :cheers
My car just started to act up as well but the temp didn't say it was HOT! an all I saw as smoke coming out from my hood! So I open it an find that the radiator over flow was shooting out my radiator fluid! lucky me the gas station was close an so was an auto zone, got a new thermostat an put it in, so far so good but I'll get a temp sensor tomorrow just in case.
That blows, definetely get that sensor and I agree with Steve get a new radiator cap while you're at it. :cheers
no biggie. The GT-S is doing OK, but the seasons are changing so I'm shifting efforts back to the vert - you'll see soon enough :naughty
