Rally headlight conversion?

not $$$ speeddemon did it I think..or was in the process of

 

I was but ditched the project because I don't have a welder or know how

 

It's not that hard...take apart one of your headlights and see how they're made...the trickiest part will be to get them aligned properly!

 

oh yeah I took them apart and drilled out the pivot points And Had it to were I wanted but I don't own a welder or know how to.

I the way I want to do it makes it a bolt on mod. So if you have two sets. You can switch them out to pop up or rally. Here is a mock up sorta. I don't have a dremel so I cant cut the lid but your get the idea.

 

wicked cool mod idea: have the front cover piece retract up or slide down revealing the light. probably wouldn't be too hard to do, just take the flip up motors and make them slide the cover.

 

you don't have an angle grinder? slap a metal cutting blade on there and that'll work even better than a dremel!

Were the swivel point is I drilled out the rivits and then you have to weld it in that position.

 

Thats a cool idea. but i have the 88-89 grille. I want to do shorter square lights. like the MR2 in that one write-up.

And i have a set of headlight units if anyone wants to purchase them to mod.

Those rally headlights were available in a conversion kit but in Japan only. Long out of production but a lot of the Japanese owners have them.

 

could just do the corona swap like i have planned. can;t wait. just need the parts. woo hoo!
