Project Hot Dog !

    DAY 1 -
    After realizing that I have gotten into a project that Im sure I will have to do by myself
    SO I WILL NEED SUPPORT FROM U ALL !!!

    I removed the engine from the van- Mind you it is 108 Degrees in California....

    Here is the game plan-
    CHECK FOR DAMAGE:

    I will get the engine on the Engine stand and take off the Oil Pan and the Valve cover- Mainly just the bottum end to make sure it dosent have a spun bearing our any other type of damage.

    The valve cover needs to come off regardless- I have to change the Head Gasket.

    DAY 2-

    OK I removed the old oil from the Pan - It came out looking like an Olive color - I will post pics when batteries charge.
    Second I removed the Spark plugs- from 4-1 thier was light condesation - but not a sign of oil- I almost Jumped thru the roof- Pics soon

    I took a quick glace of the internals on the crank nothing feel out on my hand - There where no chunks of shreeded or shaved metal in the oil- after taking a very good look at the harness there is 2 wires that have been clipped - but that is a later issue- But upon the inspection I found the the single tube running from the Turbo has a adjustable Boost Controller - kick me in the ass- Well that all I got so far cause its rolling into the 100 degree range today- Ill post pics late!!!!     Well I found this issue looks loike a broken stud on the exhaust Manifold.

    DAY 3-
    wOW ANOTHER 100 + Degree day- I got to work for 1 hour in the morning- and 2 at night....
    :x
    Alright I got the Head removed- please tell me why Toyota uses a stupid ass 12 point toqure bolt- idiots... Well while I was unbolting the Intake Manifold I would say 1-2 cups of water came out- Ater I unbolted the Exhaust manifold and a little wiggle and shake I yanked the Head off- !!!

    I believe It has a metal Head Gasket- and that why Im a little worried!!!

    Yup your right 7 bolts- Is the Head Gasket Metal from Factory our is it the fiber type??

    Ill get it cleaned up tommorow and get some better pics for yall! ;)

    There is a little rust on the top rim of the cylinder- Ill need to get it all cleaned up-
    Im kindof limited on what I do to the engine- this rebuild is basically going to be cleaning and resealing the engine- Ill degrease and scrub the Intake manifold - and clean the Valves the best I can- Since this is my first Major swap- Ill just get the experience and if I can in the future ill redo it all over lolo

    T/Y I put the order tommorow- I will most likely have the turbo done with in the coming months- I hope the gasket can handle it!!

    Hey I just realized I dont have an EGR !!!! woot JSpec- So I think I have a JSpec ECU!!

    Alright the Cometic Head Gasket will be arriving very soon !!!

    Ohh and after a little research- I am going to go for my goal of 300+ HP I will have to stop before I have to do a fuel system upgrade and internals.

    I found out with 3 simple mods the engine will yield 275-290 HP With Out having to go to any internals. :)

    BOVs dont' make any power. they are a safety devise.
    FMIC is nearly a must on a 185 4th gen swap
    and it is turbo and the stop one will hold 300hp fine why change it?

    Found that with my mates 185, to my suprise junking the std air to air for a FMIC actually reduced the turbo lag, and I thought it would of done the opposite. He uses a small ford cosworth FMIC which only cost him like $35, and works well for upto 300bhp. its small enough that you can locate it in the bumper with out hacking it to bits.

    I have the I/C from the MR2 seems very small- I will need to get a larger one-

    As far as the mods - the turbo is staying the same For Now.
    The main thing that will be changed is the I/C , And Im looking for a bigger exhaust housing due to the fade the turbo will get at higher RPMs, And the E/Manifold will be changed to a nice A/M design-

    I am thinkking of using the Manifold off of our 3SGE since the #3 cylinder seems to detonate alot from what I hear.

    Cometic Metal HeadGasket will be here on wednesday !!!! Ass oon as it comes in I be able to attach the head and all surrounding bolt ons- Also I will be attaching a fuel cut off mod which will give me more Fuel Pressure at higher RPMs... Im looking at a couple standalones like AEMs and Nemisis- the AEM unit is 2 Grand ftw, but the other is 1400 which is slightly better- but the overall advantage is great- I will be able to drop the AFM/MAP altogether. along with everything thier to est. 400+ HP for the future ...

    Hurry UPS Hurry!!

    Alright I got my seats- Ill post pics as soon as the batteries charge !!!

    And I actually have the engine in the Engine bay lolol Only took 3 months feels like- Who wants to come Help ??? :shock:
