I've got to do the timing belt on the blue car (actually I don't need to do the belt at all, but I've got to get the timing covers off to fix an oil leak, so I figured I may as well do the belt while I've got it opened up), and I've hit a hurdle very early on in the process - the power steering pump has a pivot bolt at the top and a tension bolt at the bottom, bottom bolt very easy to get to and loosen, top bolt however I have no idea, I can't get a socket up there and I don't have a spanner long enough to be able to get any decent amount of swing on it. How does everyone else normally loosen the pump enough to get the belt off?? :scratch I know at some point I've got to remove the RH engine mount, will it be easier to do that first and then access the bolt from the top?
Some tips here may help you out: http://www.st162.net/forum/showthread.php?2140-PS-Pump-amp-Hose-Repair
Cheers for that guys. Looks like I need to buy one of those long box-end spanners. One can't have too many tools, I suppose
It's got very limited swing clearance but you can usually get some wrench on there. I wonder if you can loosen it and then put a thumb ratchet on there. I'll have to give that a try next time.
