So in cars that came with power locks, what is the actual function? My GT: - cant use key to lock/unlock BOTH sides - turn ignition to ON and both sides lock - turn ignition to LOCK/ACC and both sides unlock MY GT-S: - using key to lock/unlock BOTH sides - ignition doesn't change lock/unlock
does it matter which side you use the key? ie. both passenger and driver's side, if you put the key in, it'll lock and unlock? if so...i gotta open up the passenger's side door panel... :bs do you have extra buttons that go in the power locks?
yeh, my 87 gt-s doesn't do the locks on ignition, but my 88 autolocks on ignition, autounlock on turning off. the thing is, my 88 used to be a manual locks too!
what year car did the donor pwr door locks come out of? -should be easy to spot in an 88-89 diagram. or maybe a wiring mistake?
Dunno really, maybe to lock/unlock the doors...... maybe :lachtot ......... Awww come on now, you asked :hehe - Mine is 89. - No ignition required. - Key unlocks/locks both doors. - The drivers side control panel has 2 switches, one to 'lock' the drivers lock and one to 'lock' both door locks....... The passenger side has one switch and can only 'lock' itself. - When the car is running and the doors are open, the locks won't engage...... which is a great idea. Gawd damn, someone lock me up cause I'm all locked out :mrgreen
Its a anti theft system. so when your parked at traffic lights you wont get pulled out of your car and your car robbed. i would love this feature. yes both doors should have a central locking switch, open the drivers they all open, open the passengers they all open... with the key when there locked. i dont think you understand the question? :ugh
Really......... well there you go......... I learns somthin nu abouts my yota I does (seriously)......... great idea......... In some parts of South Africa :shock I gotta say though....... I do lock the doors while driving in the city cause 'you never know'
We in South Africa that kind of central locking device as been around many year's ago the way it work's when locking with remote or key one click lock's all door's when opening one click open's only driver's door and two click's open's all door's when inside car switch ignition on to start car door's do not lock only after you actually start to pull away at about 15km all door's lock by them self's and stay locked that's one system i know off Another one is the same but it lock's when ignition is switched to on and does not lock or unlock when driving like the other one if one would want to unlock maybe for passenger to get out one would have to pull lever twice one for unlock other for open it's just a lot different type's around I like the one you have mar'c nothing wrong with it working 100% just got to get used to it.Anti theft in a way yes but we use one other method of anti-theft device's it work's well beside's lock's we call it Anti-Hijack device I am sure Kevin(stig)know's what I am talking about.
lighter + cologne in the glove box nate would know the donor car for my 88, he was the one who dug up the power locks for me. spiderman, so if yours doesn't autolock upon ignition, that takes away the theory of pre-post facelift differences, because my 87 is exactly the same as yours in function. fernando, the recent one you're talking about, my parent's 2004 toyota sienna have it. it's just weird that my 88 had central lock, while my 87 doesn't. i think it makes sense now. my 88 had all the features except the central lock by using the key, because it used to be manual locks and i didn't change anything with the door handle where the key goes in. as for ignition central lock, not sure who got it and who didn't.
it was outta a post car..... yes i can unlock both doors from either side.......no my locks dont auto-lock with the car turned on....i hate those types of locks.
