Hey guys, long time no post. Sorry Ive been spending all my free time with my new 240z and 1jz but Im still repping the celica :D

So, to test my love, the car trys to pull a fast one on me. Ive been out and around town, went to cosco to get some cheap gas as the lines big as usual so I pull up behind one and shut the engine off anticipating a long wait.

My time comes and I go to star the engine.... Nothing, I have aux power but the second I turn the key I got nothing. We push the car to the parking lot.

When turning the key to Aux I get the beeping that sounds like a dead battery, really quiet and retarded.

Sometimes when I turn to Run I get power and the volt gauge and radio energies showing 14v, but sometimes I turn to run and the cars dead, no power to anything.

Turn the key back and forth a few times till I get power in Run position, push and bump start the car fine. Just for kick when running I turn the key to Start to see if the motor enguages, but it dosnt, just kills power to the car and we have to bump start again.

I get home, park car and go to start it again, nothing... I get power in RUN mode but when I push the brake pedal I lose it and the car dies. Try it again and vow la, everything works. Starts fine, started fine later in the day too. Does this sould like I need the starter relay mod or is it something more vial?

try the mod first. or see if your car will start up with your foot on the gas. sounds similar to my problem. I am going to swap the tb one of these days to see if its possibly that. try cleaning the tb and see if that helps too. how is the 1jz....lucky schmuck!

Its defianly an electrical problem, when I say I got no power I mean no electric power.

THe 1jz is going good, I got the new one all built now and im workign on the custom mounts to put in in the 240z, it should be physically installed by sunday, then a few weeks for wiring, tunings, run the brake lines then were good to go :D Sounds easy dosnt it:p

    Check your battery first.
If it's weak, it may also give you intermittent no-start.
Happened to me, I changed the battery and that solved it.

battery is not quite 2 years old, but I'd still put my money on an electric issue. I dont think there's any way I could turn the key one second and have the beep of a dead battery, then jockey the key back and forth a few time and suddently have normal volt reading on the guage (compared to dead guages and zero power to anything a few second before.

The car died completely when running and I turned the key to Start (I know this is bad but i wanted to check if the starter would engage)

What about one of the relays in the fuse box?

Oh here's the kicker. My fog lights are wired to get power when the light switch knob is turned to the point where the dash is illuminated, 1 position from the end. But when I was sitting there with a dead car and turned the key to Run I noticed my lights were turned on (theres a little led on the switch that lets me know there's power), but the light knob waas turned off all the way. Also, that same knob didnt work at all for anything, couldnt get the lights to pop up, or the dash to light up.

As for the 240z, no new pictures, but Ill take some today if theres anything worth showing. Ive got a lot of the body work done (just filling dents) a seat mounted, Grey Primmer and the engine in the bay. Sadly the front of the car is taken apart to make the install easyer so there isnt a hole lot to see right now. few more weeks and ill have paint layed down, along with a fresh coat on the celica while im at it (I did a bit more modification to the side skirts)
