Ok so still confused on the topic of oil pressure, mainly coz i think my information comes from a mix of Race vs Street performance cars.
So on the subject of street cars, what is good oil pressure?

most of the time my gauge sits at nothing but every so often i notice it up around midway then watch it fall back down again so is that good or bad.

or ... you have no oil and that engines about to go bang.... oil pres at idle should be about 30 psi.. @ 3000 and up, should be 70++

Mine usually sits around about 1/4 of the way up (half way between Zero and Half way) then while driving usually sits at about halfway... Never does it ever go about halfway!

You probably have a loose connection on the sensor. The plug that connects to the sensor is spring like and will loosen up over time. try wigling the plug and have someone check to see if the oil guage works.

Or............My oil gauge sender unit may not be screwed in enough to allow for an accurate reading.
should have been to first thing i done since it was last toughed by the mechanic who installed the engine and we all know what a bang up job he did at doing that.

thanks guys for all your input.
