    Greetings all,

I wanted to know if i could get some info or pick the brain of some of you Toyo wizards.
I have a 1988 Celica GT4. The motor blew and I was looking at options for swapping it out. My hope was to get a red top beams Celica motor and thus have a N/A 4WD Celica. Has anyone heard of this being done, can it all bolt up? are the cross members similar or the same.

    any help would be great

    Thank you

should work, engine fits the transmission. But you will miss the torque needed for the 4wd system that causes power losses.

I'd go for it, factory figures are very similar and the new motor is lighter with a better torque curve

Beams swap into GT4 chassis and drivetrain

    Hey Resto!
There is a guy in Sweden who has created a monster gt4 by using the beams head with VVT-i and a 5sfe block. I think he was making 600+whp/700+ft.lbs.

You can find his build from MR2 forum with this link
    http://www.mr2.com/forums/threads/101823-Turbo-BEAMS

He also has a build thread on alltrac.net forum which you can peruse with this link

I am in the process of starting my build in a 1988 Celica GT-S hatchback (FWD).
I chose the BEAMS Red Top as the motor platform because of the numerous modern additions: Higher compression, VVT-i, direct ignition, and flow rates for the head. If you stay N/A the cylinder head has incredible flow, and the VVT-i is great for low end torque with great fuel economy (not so great in 4wd applications though).

With Crank position sensor, Cam position sensor, MAF, MAP, TPS, it makes a very modern engine capable of creating a highly enjoyable and environmentally friendly vintage vehicle out of your celica.

Either way you go, enjoy your car :) I had been looking for an alltrac from 1988-1988 but couldn't find any in the condition I was seeking.

    Cheers,
    Maranco
