Ok, I'm getting a new stereo system for my birthday, and these are the parts I have picked out. I am not going for something overly loud or expensive, just want something that sounds good. Let me know what you think. :)

Well lets see...for the extra $10 I'd buy the deck it shows below that'll play MP3 CD's as well since those are amazing for mass amounts of music... infinity speakers are always good... and whatever the hell those speaker wire things are 99.9% sure you don't need them. but you WILL need a deck wiring harness and some butt connectors so that you don't have to chop up your wiring and then sort it out inside the car, as well as a dash kit unless you don't mind a hole below the deck. I wouldn't bother with the baffles either.

I don't need it to play MP3 cd's, it's got an auxilary port for my ipod, although more power would always be good. I'll see if I can get it. Thanks for the tips on the wiring. The hole below the deck will be filled with a cupholder thing from a wrecked Taurus.

    Deck
It has good specs, but I think you may be dissapointed down the road.
    1) if it has no aux output. You won't be able to run an amp/sub if there's no aux.
    2) It's not that powerful @ 16w rms/ch. It won't be loud. Shoot for something that's between 30w-50w rms/ch.

    Speakers
    1) only 25, 35w rms? I think you may be unhappy with those too if you ever decide to run an amp or decide to upgrade to a higher power deck. I think you should shoot for something that's atleast 50-60w rms.
    2) I was unhappy with 4" rears which is why I forced myself to figure out a way to put larger speakers back there (well in my case, the side panels) Alot of people have 5 1/4's with a little modification back there.

Not trying to be supercritical here, I'm just thinking long-term here, so that's my take on it.

Yeah, I am going with 5 1/4" in the back, I just couldn't find any on that site. I'd go with more power, but there is a money issue, so these will have to do. I'm definitely upgrading to the slightly more powerful deck, but like I said, I'm not looking for something that is uber loud, I just want a working stereo system that sounds good. If I want to upgrade later, well, I will.

yea mos def tha speakers are decent for tha price. Pioneer speakers another consideration. Tha deck will get tha job done but i would recommend on a pioneer deck jus cuz thas wat i normally use wen installing radios in peeps cars. They easy to use n very reliable

ya definately get a deck with preouts. and seriously it sounds like a basic set up 16rmsx4 is all u need especially with those speakers. u find me a deck with 50rms x4 and ill be fn impressed ;p you dont need those speaker mounting gay things especially cause you have speaker boxes most likely. uhhh if u buy those speaker wire connectors ill disown u....and you dont need a dash kit its a double din keep your radio or eq if u have one, or just buy a single DIN pocket to go with it

The Kenwood KDC-135 is $79, it's a detacheable face, mosfet 22w/ch, front aux-in, preout w/ sub mode switch and 93 db s/n. Probably better than that sony, more options, less cost.

Oh yeah, I mentioned this before on the other thread. This would make the install go alittle faster and to avoid cutting your car harness. The previous own hacked my harness and was not happy about it, bare wires and all.

If you don't bother, atleast use spade connects and elec tape. I posted the wiring diagram link for reference too.

I call 'em M-F spade connectors, but I suppose they're called crip connectors or quick disconnects too. Use anything but wire caps. Shrink tubing and solder is probably the best though for connecting the deck to the aftermarket harness.

yep, those work. I just like having the option of NOT yanking-out or cutting the wire when it's time to upgrade, switch cars whatever. I think my deck/eq has been in 4 diferent cars/trucks. If I used those, I'd probabaly have no wire left!
