I had the new sub (4ohm, 10" dvc) hittin' pretty good, but realized I was outputting 2ohms! The 170w rms/2ch. amp I bought can only really handle 4-8ohms bridged (yeah, yeah, it's old and I didn't know until I d/L'ed the manual and read it). So, is there a way I can out-put 4ohms? Right now it's re-wired to output 8ohms, but I want 4 ohms dammit! 8 ohms is ok, but it doesn't nearly hit as hard. I figure this will be fine untill I find a better amp, but maybe you guys know of a workaround untill I can caugh-up some more cash for an amp? -K
no. you can dual amp it though and take one amp to each voice coil. but then you'll need a signal booster and a splitter because the signal has to be exactly the same.
oh and FYI the most powerful stereo i've worked on had 2 subs and 8 5K watt amps. so yes i know what i'm doing here too!
wtf u people are gay. what amp do u have what sub do u have and what kinda wire are u running. oh wait you have that whole thread, give me model numbers though
ummm, nooo, I'm str8! Bazooka 10" Bazooka RSW1024DV it's a old Pioneer sold as a 2 ch. Optimus 170w. Yeah, I know it's crap, but I'm poor. Running 12g speaker wire. Model #'s won't help, it's all in the math really.
well it helps to know how shit is wired... and most people just have a mess or have it all tucked away.
This is how it's wired... deck>rca-out>amp rca-in>ch1 L,R-out (for mono with the bridge button pushed)>speaker wire L,R>sub* *The sub is wired for 8ohms like on this site: http://www.ajquick.com/cars/guides/sub_wiring.php#d1 (1) 4 ohm DVC Speaker = 8 ohm Load" sub specs: http://www.bazooka.com/pdf/current/rsw.pdf Amp specs: http://support.radioshack.com/productin ... rs&Reuse=N -K
I drove around a bunch today and it was hittin' pretty hard even @ 8ohms. Honestly, I'm quite impressed with this sub esp. when it's only being fed 170w! The mosfet amp isn't bad either, the variable bass, treble, gain controls are a pretty nice option - no screwdriver needed. Not bad for what I paid, box, sub, amp: $77 total. -K
okok....buy a new amp your underpowerin the crap out of the sub and will cause it to clip and die quite quickly. as for wiring put the + to the RIGHT + and the - to teh LEFT - if thats not how u have it already. according to the manual it WILL take 4 ohms bridged but i wouldnt push 2 as it doesnt sound too solid ;x so ya good luck not bad for 77 bucks though and ok underpowering it wont be that bad for a little bit just a warning should be fine for now
I need a new deck first. I almost bought this used alpine for $60 today, but it didn't have aux-in -K
hmm both the decks i have to sell dont have aux input...well my alpine does on teh back or something ;x
