-couldnt find the proper thread. maybe somebody can move? just figured more people would see it here...enjoy!
remember 4g-gt motor not a 3s. great pic. look at the horrid intercooler design. interesting air intake. and looks like the pipe is either inconnel or mild steel. my guess is mild since it was a race car from the mid 80's
After years building CAN-AM, INDY and IMSA cars and the budget - I'd say Inconel pipes where the only option. Don't mean to be a killroy but just realised why there's 2 sets of pipes all the way to the turbo - Twin scroll turbo! (at that time referred to as Split-pulse turbo) Evidently Toyota were the 1st to use it in production in the CT-28 years later, but from these pics I think AAR/Toyota/Yamaha/TRD had more than a few tricks installed way before it became public knowledge! lol Mafix, I doubt anybody outside the team & scutineers ever got a look under the bonnet until many years later.
wait, this whole time i thought the car was mid-engine! :crazy and the tire width!?! :byodood seems like toyota has always been a set ahead of the curve
Thanks you were probably trying to find my All Trac thread as I want to give it an IMSA body and was posting a bunch of pictures. So far I only know of 2 engine photo's. I'm only going for the body work to make it look like an IMSA car I'm not changing the engine or doing anything else but its allways nice to see whats under the shell so heres the rear half
awesome photos that is the car that made me fall in love with 4th gens .....when i was a kid they used use that in magazine ads and commercials i think.....awesome find on the mechanicals of it.
lol, it is c.f - some people think it's fiberglass but Toyota/AAR/TRD/Yamaha wasn't taking prisoners in those days. I'd like to know what these things cost to build
