So like it says I just got Photoshop CS3 and I'm wondering if you guys know of any sites that'll give me some easy, step-by-step projects so I can start learning how to use this program properly!

... sure its a totally useless skill to make masterpieces with paint but knowing you used a pretty bad program to do it makes it worthwhile :p

oh I know. technically you can make ANYTHING with paint if you go pixel by pixel, but who wants to do that?

Try using layers with crazy effects on them....like have a picture of your car, make a new layer with some clouds or fire on it, then for the fire layer, right click and go to "blending options" or layer options, if that's the option in cs3, and you can change it to overlay or something else and it'll look kickass

    for cutting stuff out....

use the pen tool....draw point to point, hold the "alt" key when u need to change the direction of the line...then when ur done tracing, click on "paths" (in the layers section), then right click on the path u made, click "add to selection", then copy and paste the selected image into a new layer! then just add the hills behind and fuck with the lighting effects if ur picky like I am...hah

It's kind of a trade off, bells and whistles vs. speed. 5 and below do not have key features like "automate" functions and "actions" which I use almost daily So 6,7,cs is fine. cs2-3 seems to bog down with large files (esp. for me since I'm doing signage now that must be full-scale). Some cool added things, but IMO unnecessary upgrade.

If you want to just learn the basics, the fastest way is the Peachpit press books "Visual QuickStart Guide series". All the classes I've taken used these as text books.
