got a 7afe corolla stick, a new clutch was put in about 6-7k ago, for a while it has been chatterring when pulling out also when engaging into gear if u dont shift nice and easy it bangs when engaging between gears, u can also hear noise while driving with it engaged completely... when i got it done they said that the flywheel was fine, but i am thinking it needed to be resurfaced? is it better to get the old one resurfaced or just buy a new one? since resurfacing is prolly around $30-40 and a new one is $60-80
If was you I would have it resurfaced as long the ring rear is still fine but at the same time it sound's like your trust bearing is damaged as well change that too
i'd say throw out bearing/hydrolic clutch system is not proper. that sounds like more the cause than a flywheel.
well the flywheel that is on there is original wit 166k, clutch/pressureplate/throwout bearing are all 6-7k old and the slave and master are also new with less miles then the clutch, what do u think i should do, ever since it has been put together it has still driven fine. at highway speed it is un-noticable. its just gettin worse now (by trust bearing does he mean throwout) and what do u mean by clutch system is not proper? also think it is okay to put that 7k clutch back in? and what weight tranny oil to use? i really need some insight becuz was planning on rippin into it this weekend
"chatterring" = slipping?, noise? "I got it done" = ? what, clutch?, box recon? Oil is 80w-90 If the flywheel is clean and the clutch & plate undamaged it should be fine. Check your lever is disegaging the clutch properly or the m/c / s/c may be faulty
i got the clutch pressure plate throwout bearing done, the tranny is original wit 166k, i gonna rip it apart tommorow and put on a new flywheel and check the clutch, hope all is good and put it back together , read the manual and it states to use 75-90 gear oil, think i should do ne thing to the clutch before putting it back together?
throw out bearing = part between pressure plate and trans bell housing thrust bearing = center main bearing in engine just clarifying for ya. i doubt it's a flywheel issue unless it's just tore up. chattering is typically caused by flywheels but not noise. i would think that you need to service the trans.
