I'm busy fitting a new alarm and need to know if the Central locking uses a positive or negative trigger.
Who's the resident auto electrician? Actually there's about 8 types of central locking systems. I figure it's either of those two.
Light blue/black is lock, negative trigger Light blue is unlock, negative trigger You can pick this up in either kickpanel, but the drivers one is probably closer for you
Thanx for that, I have the blue wires The negative trigger means the alarm yellow wires are grounded, positive and they go to 12V
was that a question? Most alarms will have negative outputs for the door locks.....if that is the case then you just tie them in and the box should trigger the locks
No, I meant there are 4 wires for lock/unlock and you can change the direction of the alarm by connecting the other wires to + or - If there was 2 seperate switches, one positive trigger & one negative I could still make it work
when I did mine I just cheated and took the lock and unlock trigger wires and poked the lock into the plug connecting the drivers door to the main harness and hit the lock button on the remote, trial and error found the lock and unlock wires. I believe they are negative trigger but don't quote me. I'm sure what you mean by changing the direction of the alarm.
The interior lights work by having 12V on both wires, when you open a door one wire gets grounded and creates a path for current to flow through the bulbs, ie negative trigger. Positive trigger would be putting 12v on a wire via a switch etc, the alarm can detect both depending on whether the door detect circuit is grounded or live. It's in and working well exept for the boot solenoid which is too weak and soon to be replaced with a Toyota C/L solenoid which should be up to the job
