I hear what you're saying, but I'm NOT spending $200+ on a 4g wiring kit, it's waaaay overkill. If I was pushing like 500w RMS + maybe, but I'm not sooo 8g is fine for this rig IMO.

$200? where the hell are you shopping? mine was $35 CAN for the power wire, ground wire, fuse holder, fuse, and remote turn on, as well as a bunch of random connectors.

There's not too many places here to buy car elecs besides retail places where they sell kits. There's one other place that I know of where you can buy wire, but they're more overpriced than retail. I'm sure there's much better deals online.

I don't see how you could fit 4g through the firewall, I struggled fitting 8g where the speedo cable goes through and I still ripped the grommet a little.

The wiring is done, moving on to sourcing a better deck. Saw a used Alpine FS - $85, but the harness is waaay hacked, so I assume it's hot.

I put my wire through the boot where the ECU wiring goes though.

This area is really just a small group of towns, not even cities really. People for the most part shop at retail stores and don't support local businesses, such a shame honestly. Retail stores keep prices high and thus small buisinesses follow suit. Places like circuit city just destroy little car elec stores. I think there's maybe like 3 left that sell high-end car elecs and they are even more pricy since they have to compete with the retail franchises. :?

I may hit you up, if I decide to go bigger. I eventually WILL add another amp for the front and rears but for now, it's fine and other things are going to take priority. Cruised around town today and pounded the whole way, no surges, not even much fluctuation with the dash batt gauge so it seems like everything is fine so far. :D

The cap is going to my bro since he's pushing 600w rms and he's on alt. #2. He needs it more than me, doesn't really seem like I need it at this point. It was funny, I told him $20, his jaw dropped and I gave him the big smile

Niice, didn't think of that one.
Didin't think of that one either.

I pulled the grommet where the speedo cable is and I saw the floorboard so I figured it was a slam-dunk. It was just a pita fitting the wire through the grommet without completly destroying it.
