just got a coupe, wondering if theres any tips or advice for the 3sfe motor. currently has an issue of overheating, wanting to know which websites are best to get parts for the coupe model. whenever i search, all i find is hatchback parts. any models interchangable with this one ? just need help overall with the whole car of knowing where to buy parts. i would post pics but dont know how, really new to this site also.

If you want genuine parts, use ToyoDIY to look up the part number, then just google the part number to find out where to buy. Most parts are interchangeable between coupe and hatch.

Re. your overheating problems - what are the symptoms? Is the coolant a funny colour? Does it overpressurize and blow into the overflow bottle? Does the coolant level mysteriously drop without any evidence of leaking? Do the thermo fans work? Are there bent fins on the radiator? So many possibilities... its also entirely possible you just have a faulty temp sensor...

Use Imgur to host your pics. Upload them then copy the BBcode link and paste it into a forum post.

i will upload pics in a couple hours, what shocks would be inteechangable ? clutch interchangable ? was seeing if 3sfe and 5sfe had same clutch or not because looking for 3sfe parts is a pain in what seems about a week of searching all over the place for a forum showing what is the clutch and flywheel for this engine and where to buy the best one. i know i can go to a local auto part and buy a clutch but id rather get oem quality

Welcome to the wonderful world of owning a 30 year old car :D:p

The front shocks are cartridges and are definitely interchangeable between coupe and hatch. Rears are sealed, I suspect they're the same but I don't know for sure, a coupe owner would have to weigh in on that one. If no-one can answer, you might be best buying a cheap one out of a hatch from a wrecker just to compare. If they're the same then go ahead and buy new ones.

I doubt a 5SFE clutch would fit a 3SFE. Aisin still make an OEM replacement 3SFE clutch kit.

damn its a pain in the neck lol im coming from working on a prelude and h-series honda motors and wow, toyota is a different world of having to order parts and such.

i think i can order the shocks from the hatch model to try, i truly need new struts soon lol (judging from how the ride home went when i first brought the car to my house )

aisin clutch kits are good then ? how about the flywheel ? where can i find a new one ? lol all i find is for 3sge or 5sfe

Aisin are owned by Toyota, their parts are as good as OEM :D

Do you need a new flywheel? Can the old one not be machined?

aisin so expensive though lol 220 for a clutch kit. well im guessing the flywheel needs replaced because i ran it barely home with the burnt clutch

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Exedy also do a kit for the 3SFE, but I doubt you'll find it much cheaper than the Aisin kit. Captive market though mate, as you said parts are hard to find.
