    Hi all. I have a 1988 SX (GT-R) with standard 14" rims.
I have the option of putting on a set of Subaru WRX 16s with 205/50 tyres.
Has anyone had a similar experience and can let me know if the new tyres will rub?
    Thanks

    what's the offset?

Out of my head mine are 16" 7,5J ET35 and 215-40 tyres. I can put a finger between it.

We were just discussing this in another thread a week or so ago :lol

WRX's run a +55 offset so you'll likely need spacers. Have you already bought the rims? Maybe you can test-fit them first (and post a pic of course  )

205/45/16 on +39 offset is the perfect stock-like size.

subaru's are usually more than +45, meaning you'll rub the bottom spring cup in the rear and rub your engine covers in the front. if you go with subaru rims, you'll probably want 15mm spacers in the front, 25mm in the back.

also, 205/50 is too tall if you don't run spacers EVEN if you have stock +39 offset. your speedo will also read 2% too slow

Thanks for the reply guys. I think the tyres are a bit big and the offset is +53 I think so is that too much?

Picture of the wheels attached. Actually these are the actual wheels:

Still looks like a good price as long as they fit inside the guards and don't rub on corners. I guess I could always buy them and flip them again if they don't work.

    I'll let you know.

I run a 205/50/16 on a konig 16x7 rim, dont kno the offset though, in the back i can only fit a peice of paper in between the tire and the spring cup, and in the front they hit the plastic inner well while turning, but my suspension is shot, so im hoping that when i take care of that it might fix the problem with the front, got the tires cheap so next time i will go with a 195/50/16

if those are the actual rims I wouldn\t take them. Seen the damage on picture 2?

    Thanks. I noticed that dent.

Need to add to the cost of new wheels other things like (maybe) spacers, new wheel nuts (probably) and if I have to add spacers will the wheel studs be long enough?

It looks like these wheels need conical wheel nuts whereas the existing wheels are the type where the nuts run through the wheel...

195/50/16 is an odd size that will probably cost you more, iirc it's only mazda that uses that size stock so less stock/market for those. 205/45/16 would be a better fit, i had 205/50 at first too with the same problems, but drop it down to 205/45 and no rubbing at all!

Assuming all the rims are 6-7 inches wide:
    Front: +39
    Rear: +20

The rear is less because if you look at your OEM wheels (+39), the rear wheel is further inside the fender arch than the front wheel:

Most just get a 25mm spacer in the rear to bring it out while keeping the set of 4 wheels the same offset.

In my opinion, a good combo that combines looks, comfort, and no rubbing is this:
16"x7" with anywhere from +37 to +40 offset wheels, 205/45/16 tires, 25mm spacers with their own studs in the rears.

mine are 16x7 enkeis model number or52 and they are 42mm offset which clear everything awesome but i too notice the need for spacers in the rear which i want to add soon.

i have 25mm spacers in the rear and les scwabs wont touch my car unless i take them off....which is stupid but its their policy or some shit...but ive always wanted to get a correct off set instead of using a spacer.

yeah but you would have top get two diff wheels then cuz that offset wont fit the front . Right? screw les schwab they have so many rules that if they had there way they wouldnt touch anything.....i brought them brand new wheels and tires for my 3rd gen and they said cuz they were custom that they couldnt mount and balace them for anything less then 300.....i took them across the street to discount tire had them mounted and balanced no questions asked for 70.00

+39 stock minus 25 spacer = +14 offset in the rear
