I want bigger wheels, looking at 16s, so nothing huge just a bit nicer.

    Specifically 205/55r16

But....BUT! I'm going insane, as measuring that up it'll smack straight into my rear springs as it will be larger than the lip the stock wheels fit under, is this correct? If so how does everyone run 16 or 17 on their car? I feel like I'm going mad.

Do I need coil overs? Is that what you guys have done?

I'd rather get some rims with tyres than get just new tyres for stock for almost the same price.

    Cheers guys.

Depends what wheels you're running. I've got 7th-gen factory 16s with +35 (or 38, I forget) offset, and with stock struts 205/50 tyres rubbed the rear spring cups. There is heaps of room under the rear guards so you could probably squeeze a +20-25 wheel in without any problem, or run spacers (not legal in NSW though).

205/45 tyres will put the tread a few mm further away from the strut, or yeah as you said you can install coilovers and forget all about it

i definitely hit with 205/50. 205/45 solved my issues

Awesome. Exactly what I wanted to hear.

I'm due for tyres, and I'd rather buy some used, larger rims with tyres than but new tyres for my stock 14s.

Prefer the thicker 5 spoke style wheels. So that's what I've got my eye out for.

The low offset is the difficult part, wrx wheels would be great.... If they weren't +50 or so!

What about wheels of an 86/brz? Anyone fitted those?

    86/BRZ use a 46mm offset, they won't fit a 162

they actually fit. i've fitted them. 215/45r17 stock primacy hp tires do slightly hit (about 2mm worth of tire) the rear strut as they have the rim protector edge. 10 minutes of driving and they're now fine. with normal shaped tires without the rim protector, it would fit fine, no fuss.

these are FRS TRD RS2.0 wheels. exact same spec as stock frs/brz.

    17x7.5 +46

There you go, I stand corrected. I bought a set of 3-piece wheels that came off a WRX once and they weren't even close to fitting o_O.

I just bought 204 stock 16" rims for 100 bucks for t set, so looks like that's what im going!

I was originally looking at Rota, Grid series wheels. However in a 17" getting 5x100 in a low enough offset was tricky, I'd need to measure a lot more and I needed tyres a month ago lol.

These came up on eBay so for once I just got buy and worry about it later! Haha
