Haven't seen a 162 in my local automotive graveyard in about 2 years. I keep an eye on ebay and gumtree for parts, but people ask silly money for stuff - I saw a windscreen washer bottle advertised for $110 not long ago
Man, I wish I snagged these bitchen facelift tail lights a while back when I got my front set-up. I still have the orig rear 87 US style in deeeecent shape on my ride
This is why they call me vicdat... I got my first new Datsun pickup in 1970 when I was a senior in HS This is a specimen my friends just acquired. 60,000 original miles and stored under a tree here in SoCal since 1980 hahaha. It came with a full size camper if Stig plans a visit stateside. This is it's fate...SR20de Vic
Saw the temp guage creep up and knowing that anything above twelve noon means holy shit... One of the small bypass hoses had spring a leak I never liked this red heater hose so I changed it too When I was all done I serviced the K&N and cleaned inside the dizzy for good measure.
So the car's been leaking power steering fluid for a while but just started to leak water. Yup water punk so I'm two days into the combo repair. Of course I'm doin the timing belt too. Standard assortment of usual headaches. Who'd of thunk it that they would use one countersunk screw in the pump. I ended up grinding it off and used a grade 8 Allen head with locktite. The new power steering pump now has a custom Aeroquip high pressure hose and bitchen swivel connector at bottom that made reinstallstion a snap.
lots of work! for that screw on the water pump, please make sure the new bolt doesn't hit the belt! the reason for the screw is because the belt runs right above it!
Right guys I put a grade 8 countersunk Allen head in....perfect clearance for the new belt. I'm finishing up now cause I had to work all week Just got to bleed the new ps pump and hose. Any tricks other than keeping it topped before starting w/ wheels off ground and topping continuously. Then doing the same with eng running???
Everything's back together now.. Fired up first pull. Spent a lot of time bleeding the new master cylinder. Brakes feel deecent. Don't think I have any ps leaks or water so mission accomplished! I did notice a few minor oil seepages basically from valve covers and oil pan but those fish will be fried later... Vicdat
