Heater

Discussion in 'Diagnosis/Help' started by celicagtsgurl, Dec 20, 2007.

  1. Ok its getting cold here and my heater wont work. I'm not sure if its the heater core(I really hope not), or if its the heater control assembly. It worked the first time it got cold but then stopped. I think mine has the climate control assembly cause it has all the numbers. The only way I can get it to come on sometimes is if I put it all the way on 85 but sometimes it doesn't work. I don't hear the flap moving so I don't know where to start. I just want a good idea at what to deal with before I go tearing the dash out and buying something I don't need. Thanks in advance.

It's the heater control panel. Typically, cracked solder joints are the culprit. Common problem but we have a solution for you:

PS- make sure you read the entire thread. The "quick fix" is temporary or for when you need emergency heat. Ideally, you want to re-solder all the cracked solder joints and have the heater control panel functioning properly.

  3. Thanks I'll go and do it this weekend. I'll probably go ahead and re-solder the joints, cause for some reason, it will be freezing cold one week, then hot the next, lol.

I did the quick fix for mine, removing the two possible issues, and nothing... I would assume that the flap isn't opening, and I really don't want to tackle the whole thing, by removing the heater assembly and such... Would be nice to have some heat, though!

  5. Ok I did the quick fix and it solved my problem. I moved the lever under the dash back and forth and it changed from hot to cold, but its hot today so I put it back to cold, lol. So I guess I'll have to tackle the heater control this weekend if the weather stays warm. Thanks Rick89GTS for the help, now I hope I dont run into anymore problems, lol.
