    -well this thread got dissappeared.

-first pic shows s2 (89 jdm(?) on left) and s1 (86-87 on right) side by side. both are made for egr and o2 sensored vehicles.
-second pic is s1 86 ecus. left is usdm (egr and o2) right is jdm (non egr with 02) note the additional "chip" and few other bits
    [IMG]

-it seems odd that there are more bits in the non egr ecu. very curious to see a non o2 ecu.

-i should also have a euro (non 02 non egr) on the way for comparison. i intend to review power levels and emmissions on each.

    heres a new one...from toyodiy.com

note: all #'s start with 89661-xxxxx

    USDM/AUD/CAN 3SGELC (both egr and 02 systems)
    -86'-20160 (8/85-7/86)
    -87'-20110 (8/86-7/87)
    -88'-20110
    -89'-20320

JDM 3SGELU (no egr but has 02 system)
    -86'-20150
    -87'-20150
    -88'-20150
    -89'-20310 (8/87-12/88)
    -20311 (1/89-7/89)

EURO 3SGEL (no egr no 02 systems)
    -86'-20180
    -87'-20180
    -88'-20180
    -89'-20180

    so i have.

    20110
    20160
    20150-thanks stig :D
    20320 yellow
    20320 grey

-at this point i can tell that the plug color doesnt mean anything as the chipsets in both 20320's are idendical. they can both be identified as 89' 3SGELC ecu's (USDM) by the board. I know this because the 20150 (JDM) stig sent was a virgin (un-opened) ecu with yellow plugs.

-this would also confirm my suspicion that the way i am running 09 on the 20320 has netted me more power not because of the jdmness of it but because im still running brown injectors, therefore running lean.

-this is all of course assuming that the #'s listed on toyodiy are correct.

-stig. 3sgel (euro) atleast a 86 models should all have pistons like seans (domed) :mrgreen

    -look here pg 19 & 20. toyo pt # 13101-88362 (euro) #13101-74030 (jdm & usdm ect.)

-also an excellent reference for pistons. i think i just figured out who supplies toyota.

Thanks Jon - this confirms what I've been saying for a long time (86 GT model).
Problem was a certain person refusing to believe his car is actually an 86, when he claims it's a 91 model?
(although it has 86 spec trim)

The colours are irrelevant - I said that all along after seeing the same #'s with different colours

Dunno why there's so many ECU's though - surely 2 or 3 would have been enough?
I don't think the chipsets are important either - more important is the way they have been programmed
and I'm pretty sure the others could be re-programmed using the right kit.

I suspect you're lean too, for racing I'd fit pink (305cc) gen2 or green (295cc) gen3 injectors just to be safe.

There's a set of Teikin bearings here going cheap, I'll grab them too and that piston list is very interesting from
    a builders point of view.
I've almost stetted on the idea of making H22 Honda pistons and rods fit my next motor though.

sorry ran out of time before i had to go.

-the way toyodiy shows it all euro 162's should have the domed pistons.
-maybe nz and oz have gotten some euro imports?

-cams are different p/n's, and so is the intake afm. (between euro and usdm.)

I have spent considerable time working in the 86-87 USDM ECU and about 45m in the 88-89 USDM. I also spent lots of time on the 90 3S-GTE and 91 and about 8hr on the 88 ST165.
the tell if an ecu runs the same code as an other both main processors would have the same PN.

about circuitry, what's more explicit than ECU label PN is the printed circuit board PN, for 2 different ECU for various markets they can share the same pcb with populated/unpopulated circuits depending on needs.

for instance a 90 jdm 3SGTE ecu will not have cold start injector circuitry while the usdm does, the printed circuit board is the same while the main processor program varies.

86-87 VS 88-89 main processor pin out is mostly the same. the circuitry used to drive actuators and sensing differs from 86-87.

    they're all simple friendly designs.
