Hey just picked it up today and wanted to introduce myself. Used to drive a 90 corolla sedan but that got old and boring fast. Loving the celica even with the faults it came with. But anyway, pics!

Needs a new front lip, front brakes, and some misc interior items, but she's great.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

    Uhh problems, where to start..lol.

Front rotors are warped. (pedal moves up and down under braking, brembo and hawk oes pads on the way)
    tires are huge! (195/65/15)
Front lip is ripped apart. Looks like they hit a bump and it got ripped apart.
Someone took a screw driver to the driver's side door so that's toast. Passenger is still good.
Sunroof seals are gone (got poured on this morning, in the car!)
Roof liner is missing and sunshade fabric is ripped and raining dust particles on me when I move it. (just foam and steel showing.)
Wrong sunroof switch. I thought it was different because I had a GT but after more research its the wrong one. Has some label on it called ASC. The other giveway was there was no map light.
Window seals of course. (foggy when raining)
Seats are ripped up but it came with seat covers.
    Alignment.

Last major issue is this clunking noise I get when I let off and the car jerks a bit from the vacuum of the engine. I can feel it in the shifter, so I'm guessing either ball joints or cv joint related. And of course, full tune up but I do that with all the cars I purchase just so I don't have to worry about it.

I diagnosed most of these issues via this forum with lots of searching. For the record, I got my brembos from parts geek for 40 shipped. Cheaper than autowarpzone rotors.

Took a couple more shots during lunch today. I got into celicas well because..I've never owned a sporty toyota. I used to drive hondas and such, and I had a prelude which is a direct competitor to the celica so I figure I'd go for one of these. The unique lines and pop up headlights is what brought me to it. They are become more and more rare these days too. Anyway, pics!

ASC is the company that chopped the coupes down to convertibles...maybe they did a couple sunroofs too. The sun roof looks like a different shape than mine (I could be wrong...I haven't driven my car in almost 3 months since I'm doing an engine swap).

You should totally look into getting post facelift corner lights and tail lights! makes it look much better in my opinion!

If you are ever headed north of Seattle let me know maybe we can set up a meet (If I ever get my swap done!!!) lol

I will certainly be hitting you up if I head south any time soon!

That would be awesome. Idk, I kinda like these apposed to the face lift corner lights, but I agree on the tails. Looks like there are 2 st16x in the junkyard near me. One is an 87 and the other an 88...hmmmm

The sunroof switch looks nothing like any of the sunroof switches i've seen. No map light, and only one switch. I ran out of time, so I couldn't snap a picture. Tonight, my heater started cutting out on me. Better go borrow a soldering gun. :)

This celica deserves a restore of interior and a original steering wheel. :wink

I think a stock steering wheel is order too. I have a cruise control button and I'm curious if it works. Honestly, this car has more features then some of the newer cars I've driven.

Also, if anyone could give me some hints on this issue I'm having with clunking when I let off the throttle. Like when I let off and the car jerks forward back back, there is a clunking noise when the weight shifts to the front. It sounds like something has play. Doesn't happen when going over bumps or hard cornering. Any help would be appreciated.

Engine mounts front and rear most likely. They are on a cross member under the engine. Not too hard to replace and you can make your own polyurethane ones for cheap just Google it

Holy distributor cap, I never thought it would have been that difficult to access. Had to remove the air box. Strangely though, oil pressure gauge works now. Thought my sender unit was bad.

you must've jiggled the wire for it. it's nearby the airbox and distributor cap. it's a one wire spade and it gets dirty. i used a scotchbrite and scruffed up the spade terminal and it worked 100% after that.

as for clunking, mounts. don't just replace the easy looking front one just because it's easy. the rear one is the biggest culprit, if you don't replace that, a new front one will tear up in no time again.
