Electrical Wiring Help Needed (some are probably simple questions)

    Hey All,

I am working on a V6 swap (1MZ) and so far it is going well. If anybody happened to download the PDF listed in this thread: http://www.st162.net/forum/showthread.php?104-Complete-1MZ-FE-V6-engine-swap-For-Sale/page2 I would really really appreciate a PM with a link or an email of the PDF itself. Most of this stuff I am working on is ironed out but this will help me double check some body control features, namely the headlight motors, etc. Additionally if anybody has the complete write up that has been cut off from this page: http://www.st162.net/forum/showthre...olled-pop-up-headlights&highlight=starter+mod I would really appreciate that too.

I have a few questions regarding the wiring diagrams for some ST162 components that I just cannot seem to find. I have listed them in order of importance.

The first one is the Starter. Specifically, what goes to the large bold down electrical connection? Is that a 12v+ wire? Ground Wire? The spot I am talking about is in this photo where the blue wire connects: [IMG]

Also, where does that black wire connect to after the starter? I suspect it is a 12v wire, and then it also requires a small 12v signal to engage the starter, correct? Any help in this area would be appreciated.

Secondly, does anybody have the wiring diagram for the fuel pump? From what I can tell, in the ST162, it is just always on with a 12v signal and a ground, but I cannot verify this, nor can I test it. Additionally if you happen to have a wiring diagram for a 1MZ V6 Camry/ES300 fuel pump (w/ return style fuel rail, so pre 1998) that would be great!

Third, I need a brake pedal sensor wiring diagram. I assumed incorrectly that it would be a simple switch with one source and one component signal wire. I was wrong, there are 5 wires coming out of that thing. I just need the brake lights to come on when i touch the pedal, so any wiring or switch diagram in this area would be appreciated.

Finally, I have been searching all over for a digital copy of the 1996 Lexus ES wiring diagram as a whole. I realize most of you probably do not have this, but any help locating something like this would be excellent!

Thank you all for looking, I really appreciate it!!!!

You have 2 wires going to the starter, both are 12 volts.

The big fat wire that is bolted to your starter solenoid should go directly to the 12 volt post on your battery.

The smaller wire sends 12 volts to the starter solenoid from the ignition switch when it is in the start position,
when this happens the solenoid pushes the starter gear out and engages it with the flywheel at the same time
it closes a contact on the big fat cable from the 12 volt battery terminal which causes the starter motor to
    rotate.

The start/solenoid are bolted to the tranny case which is its ground.

I have the wiring diagrams for a 2003 lexus rx300, it uses the 1mzfe engine if you need pictures of that

interestinglly enough. the 162 fuel pump also needs to be triggered by the afm.

-i was looking at the diagram the other day and tested on my car.....

-09 as soon as the ign was turned to on the fuel pump would come on. the dog doesnt do that...id imagine its because ive messed with the afm to richen the fuel mix. however with the ignition in the on position, if i push the afm door open with my finger the fuel pump comes on.

-i doubts this helps anything i just thought it was interesting....maybe a way to test the fuel pump?

That is interesting. I think that is the result of something you have done and here is why: before the engine swap we had to overhaul the entire chassis, replacing rust everywhere, including the primary fuel line. When everything was all re-connected we began to start the ignition. Once IG1 and IG2 got power, the fuel pump started (its pretty quiet) and we realized this when fuel started pouring out of a connection that was not completely tight. It was a fun time.

Thanks for posting those diagrams, they are helpful. The other part of the diagram I am missing is from a 1MZ vehicle's fuel pump. Unfortunately for me, in 1998 or so, the fuel delivery system went from a constant pressure, to a returnless variable pressure system, so the fuel pump and associated wiring is different. So if anybody happens to have the wiring diagram for a 1996/7 Lexus ES 300, Toyota Camry V6, Solara V6 and a few others, that would be helpful.

Another issue I have come across is headlight motors. I can wire up the lights ok, but the motors are a different story. Has anybody changed the way their headlight motors operate or wired them up manually? I am sure i can figure it out, but a cheat sheet would be helpful.

    Thanks!

yep. the fact that it doesnt come on when the ignition is turned to "on" is a result of changing the setting inside the afm. I just didnt know that the afm triggered the fuel pump.
