Re: Red 1986 GT-S Hell yeah money kicks ass! Good stuff Monkey! fingersx Looking forward to your progress.
Re: Red 1986 GT-S PICTURES! I HAVE SOME F*CKIN PICTURES!!! Just replaced the master and slave cylinders for the clutch. Nice to finally have a clutch pedal that doesn't feel like I'm stepping on a dead squirrel. Adjusting the pedal so that the clutch breaks neither too high or too low in the throw has got to be one of the most aggravating things ever. You pretty much have to have a 4 jointed arm and night vision to do it. Oh well, totally worth the few minutes of cursing and pain. Think I'm going to paint my All-Trac wheels at some point in the next few days, but I haven't decided what color. I'm thinking either brilliant white with red lettering, or a graphite metallic with red or white lettering. What do you guys think?
Wow it's been a while. Long and short of it, last February the water pump gave out, the old clutch started to give up, and the muffler rusted through after being on the car for 15+ years, so the Celica has been parked in my friends back yard all year. NO LONGER! Just placed a pretty substantial order on RockAuto for all the things I know will be needed to get the older girl back on the road, hopefully will be starting work on it next week when the parts arrive. I cannot wait, it's been hell not being able to drive my Celi.
welcome back! seems like i came onto this forum after your last post but nice to see you back with us! lots of pics i hope for the upcoming updates!
Welcome back man. I see your old posts and looks like I cam in just before you went MIA lol. Welcome back. Looking forward to some progress as I've read your threads before. :lurk5
Thanks guys, good to see some new faces and some old ones Always loved the hospitality on this site. Just received the first shipment of parts, I'm a little concerned about the clutch I got from Exedy. It has rubber bushings instead of springs, and the only real info I can get about them is that this type was standard in Porsche 924/944s and they kinda suck bad under hard driving, and usually fail before the clutch wears out. Anybody have experience with this type of clutch in a Celica? I'm not really planning on auto-crossing this car anytime soon but I do like a nice run down mountain roads, would hate to have a crap clutch. My other option is the OE replacement from Sachs, which I've heard good things about. Edit: Disregard this ^^^, did some more research on the Exedy clutch kit and found out its a sprung hub but the springs are encased in rubber, which is odd. Although if anyone has any experience with this clutch; part # EXE16072, let me know. It seems like a nice kit.
