Hey whats up I'm Gino and this is my car st162 86 Celica GT-S engine type 3S-GE (daily commuter) No name yet but i'm planning on restoring her. Fixing cars has always been an interest to me although i'm still new to it, but hey what better way to start then to fix up your first car right!! Bought it from the original owner the chassis has about 200,000 + miles one it but the original owner swapped out the engine with another one from japan something like 8,000 miles on it not sure but I got all the maintenance records. Things I've done: Fixed driver door (ghetto rigged it with spacers) when I bought the car the driver door wouldn't close and catch the latch unless you slammed it hard so i put spacers on the door hinges and the the door latch but this created another problem Basic maintenance spark plugs/wire/distributor cap Changed Master and Slave Clutch Cylinder Swapped out Power Steering Reservoir do to leaking Any Suggestions on what else I should do or where I should start first? To do list: Change Shocks:KYB-GR-2s or Monroe's Lowering Springs Eibach 1.6 Pro Kit Need to fix sunroof and stereo Need to get a new intake hose the original clamp seems to have cut through it running with duct tape for now Paint/remove rust I'll post more pictures soon Thanks again!!!
Welcome, nice original car Whereabouts are you? KYB's for me I'd do the sunroof and rust 1st - or there's no point in carrying on
Welcome, as Stig said, get stuck into the rust. Good score on the engine, get a valance/front lip and maybe some mudflaps after you paint it to protect your new duco. I can't imagine why you'd need to 'ghetto' the door because the door lock striker ('catch') is adjustable. What I do know is that you'd better have your walking shoes on if there's any door slamming on my baby :fingersx
Thanks guys for the welcoming also kyb's it is then @stig: currently living in milpitas california thats where you can find me cruising around haha. Anyways how would I go about fixing the sunroof and removing the rust steps / materials needed? Right now my sunroof works on a good day haha but I kinda have to spam the close button for it to close. @spiderman: know any good place where I can find sideskirts and mudflaps aftermarket or oem, been searching around for parts and at local junk yards. I'll do a walk around vid and photo ofor you guys soon!
there's a fibreglass sunroof for our cars on ebay, pretty cheap, asides from that, grind er down to metal and reprimer/paint side skirts: there's three OEM USDM ones, shitty looking ST/GT, better GT-S/convertible ones, and the all-trac ones. front mudflaps: two kinds because they fit over either ST/GT side skirts or GT-S/convertible side skirts (rears are the same). all-trac has no flaps personally i'd go with GT-S/convertible sideskirts/mudflaps, keep checkin craigslist as someone's always parting front lip is what's going to make the difference. every 4g fwd celica is supposed to have one...but obviously it's not there...
Welcome, the Celi looks good post a engine bay photo if you can  Def don't get monroes I've had them, for just a little more you can get KYB's! Keep us posted on the progress. :cheers
Here you go guys a quick walk around vid of my car sorry I kept reitterating myself on some parts doh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWc9CMo-hnU&feature=youtube_gdata_player
@gvillamaria: There is also a new RUST thread here. I can't remember seeing anything here about the sunroof switches, can they be checked/cleaned ? When you pull the sunroof, clean up the 'slide rails' and hinges and lighty lube them........ 4 years ago when I bought my Lightning, I cleaned up and polished (with car polish) the sunroof rubber seal and polished the edge of the roof then applied a very light coat of vaseline for smooth closing/sealing, job done :cheers
