Time to bring back the old thread with new details.

Mafix called me last tuesday. " How many wheels do you want on your birthday present."

Long story short, we went out last Thursday 10/01/09 and picked up yet another Alltrac. This time its blue.

Currently the car is in the garage safe and sound. I want to play really bad, but I cannot bring myself to do it without a title. I may start this weekend anyway. Removal only, no install of fresh parts.

Front fenders are rusted with surface rust, drivers side is busted. There is a dent in the rear quarter panel on the drivers side by the bumper and bodykit. 1 final dent underneath the passenger side rear tail light. Other than that the car is mint. It does come with the normal sun roof rust. Not much can be said there.

But there is no fender well rust, no rust on the underside that we could see. The exhaust isn't even rusty. Schweet! Rear cradle looks awesome, fuel lines are in awesome shape. Even the interior is pretty nice.

Car came with a few extras. B&G Sport Lowering Springs, KYB AGX front shocks, KYB GR2 rear shocks, and then some extra parts and pieces. I'm gonna try to get some pics up in the next few days.

Big thanks to Willie for the car, as he 'gave' it too me for an early birthday present.

The back, minus bumper and tail lights. Yay for no rust hidden by the bumper.

Removed Fenders, Inner Fenderwells, Front AC Condenser, Front WTA cooling tank, Windshield washer tank and lines, Side Skirts, All body kit pieces in the front of the car, rest of the lighting, horn, Cruise Control, AC lines, Damn near everything infront of the downpipe and some other stuff along the passenger side fender.

For shits and grins I pulled back the carpet on the passenger side of the car. No rust. None. Nada. Zip Zero. For once our biggest dilema is finding the rust to fix rather than it staring us in the face like normal.

    wow i move pretty fast!
literally we are trying to find where the rust is hiding. this hands down is the best condition 4th gen we've owned.
    plans...
    sub 3200 lbs loaded
    gen 1 powered with awd
handling/track car not a drag car
wicked paint and super clean body

hopefully this will come out being awesome

mike i was thinking about what you said with the wife painting your car. i think the primer coats that it would be fine. that would be the end of it. i figured out all the layers of paint that need to be done. after the base coat there can be absolutely no runs in the paint. food for thought. if you still want her to do it then that's fine but this paint will be a bit pricey.
    here is the coat layers:
    sealer primer
    primer
    primer
    base
    color
    graphic
    graphic inlay
    pearl
    clear x3

everything after the base coat is a spray one time the way i have it worked out. it has to be flaw free or we will have to start back at primer. either way it'll be sweet. i'm sure we will figure it out. also i did not put the colors in on here to keep it a bit of a suprise.

one more thought...we might want to drop in the motor before any color goes on. that way it can be blended right. you color choices are not solid colors and the way i have it pictured will be a consistant fade. pretty sick. i wish i could download my brain.

    Great plans love it.

Only thing I will say is, if you go trick paint will sprayed in graphics, any slight knock from a track day will be a real pain to fix.

on the airfield tracks we use, space is not an issue, so unless you are mega unlucky you wont hit anything, but road debris damge from the surfaces is a def possiblty

Then on the circuits, I have rubbed several times on tyre walls and cones, its easy for me to cover up the chips, but on a trick paint it may be a issue.

Just my thoughts, as when you out on track you dont wanna be worringing about the car at all.

I would love to say that this car is going to get tracked on a regular basis, but I know that this will never happen. At least not as regular as I would like. This is going to end up being more of a pleasure car/weekend cruiser. Not much else. May see a couple passes at the drag strip, but thats probably it.

Arh fair play then... coolgleamA coolgleamA Its just I have seen many a cracking paint job ruined by track action, its the nature of it.

One day I'll actually take pics of this.

    Update.

Front end has been stripped bare. Steering rack was shot, so we have another one on order. Started cleaning up a ton of parts. Got my first mods in the other day. Let me tell you. Most un exciting $300 I ever spent. Even the box was not exciting. But I do now have my:

    Poly Engine Mounts
    Stainless Clutch Line
    Aluminum Crossmember Bushings.

Cleaned and painted my crossmembers in a bright red, along with my TB coupler, valve cover and a few more odds and ends.

Painted my motor mounts black and started cleaning up my A arms for paint.
