What colour is the GTS ? Would you want to respray the whole car , or try and find one with the paintwork as good as you possibly can ?

That's the info I needed, thanks! My van won't do it (olds family van, 3k tow capacity) I'm wanting to buy my own truck but don't know when. So thinking about renting one. I used to have a dolly, but sold that years ago....I'd rather use a flatbed trailer if I could but we'll see when I get there...

    Thanks again!

*sigh* Yeah, that's right up the road from me....but $3500 over budget LOL!

I contacted the guy in louisville, it's an automatic, that's the only thing stopping me on that one, otherwise I think it's a good buy. The one in Aurora is new today, so I hadn't seen that one yet....hmmm....

I'm not quite ready for the WTB yet...last time I did that I got offered a fifth and a sixth LOL! If I don't find anything soon I'll probably do that though, may also do that for a parts car...even though the one in Louisville'd be a good bet there...I'll just sell the tranny LOL! "course now I'm just rambling.

Oh, and I recalculated, the gts with the blown head is just under four hours away (Chicago), that's not too bad and I'm really leaning in that direction. If the body and interior are good then I'll just fix the engine (my hubby wants me to buy another engine, do a swap, take the time to fix the head and soup it up LOL) Anything to gain experience eh?

If your gonna swap it, no point in tossing in another 3SGE. Just drop in the turbo and roll. Hehe.

Yeah, I'd love to do the turbo swap. It just comes down to finding a 3sgte without breaking the bank! That's where it'd be better to go gt instead of gts right?

I found a 3sfe complete with manual tranny for $400 and either a 3sfe or 3sge (they said it'd go in an early 90's camry too but I don't know enough to know what engine that is) with an auto tranny for $100.

You"re not a fan of the automatics then ? Unlike myself, the total opposite.

Nah, I like autos for certain vehicles but am a huge manual fan. I miss the fun and power of a five speed. I guess after driving an auto jeep, an auto van an auto saturn and an auto suby for the past five years I'm ready to use a clutch again :)

Are there alot of fans of the auto tranny? 'course I'm also picky in the respect that I don't want a coupe or 'vert!

    Is your Supra auto?

Ah......so you"re not new to driving an automatic. I can understand your reasons for a manual, being in control etc.

All the cars in my family are automatics including the Supra. I used to think they were meant for big executive cars, but the latest one I sourced for my younger brother, is an automatic 11 year old Nissan Micra. Just under 1000cc, I couldn"t believe how well it drives for an automatic. Not sure about the purple colour though.

Wow! I guess I'm just so used to 'sports car' people being almost exclusively manual drivers! I wanted to slap the suby exec silly that decided that svx's would only be auto LOL! That's cool though, I've never driven an auto celi or supra. My mom trashed my dad's corolla griffith (the car that started it all for me) and she almost trashed my fiat x1/9 'cuz she doesn't know or like manual trannies. I've got a friend that I don't think even knows what a clutch pedal looks like! :D 'course she can't grasp the idea of liking a car for more than going to the grocery store in and keeps trying to talk me out of the vehicular venture....like that's gonna happen...LOL

Yeah, at first I wasn"t so sure about automatic celicas and supras, but I don"t think I could ever go back to a manual, too much hardwork ! I just enjoy my cruising. Each driver to their own style I guess.

Yup Yup.... I get it all the time... They say, "You only got 2 pedals, and WRONG WHEEL DRIVE" (Referring to front wheel drive... sooo funny). Thing is, mine always has the group of people around it at the get togethers. Go figure... coolgleamA

This is how my madness with Toyotas started. My first ever Toyota, a Corolla SR coupe.

Then my second Corolla SR coupe, a much better looking shape. BTW, that"s my little brother and not me ageing backwards ! hehe

Nice! I think the red corolla is about the same year as the griffith, '83? I'm not real good with corollas, is the brown one the same? My dad used to take me up to the hills in Philly and we'd go slidin' in the snow in it! Tons of fun :) I'll scan a pic of it in sometime, it was red with a white rag top. I tried like hell to buy it from him back in '96 before my mom totalled it. Haven't seen another like it...not even on wikipedia!

Loooooove the supra! Some day I'll have another one...but not yet. Is it a solid roof? I had a blast with the targa, but man what a pain to take off and put on by myself! Awesome pics :)

Oh, and so you know, I'd never rag on anyone for their trannies or cars (except my hubby who likes CRX's LOL)

The Bronze ( as its officially known ) Corolla was !981, the red 1982.

The Supra is a solid roof. Some critics say the targa roof made the ride less solid, if thats the correct term. I think you know what I"m trying to say.

Look forward to seeing that pic. I can"t even picture it in my head what it looks like.

Pretty rare car.... If I remember right, they just had one on eBay about a month ago. It went for a grip of dough...lol
