    Hey,

My car is running great! The exhaust smells like an old car. It doesn't smell like exhaust that has exhaust problems, just smells old. I don't know. It became more apparent after a recent replacement of engine coil and alternator. Any comments?

    Are you farting?! lachtot
Seriously, coil and alt shouldn't make your exhaust smell worse. Is the exhaust sweet smelling?

    is it smoking at all?
could be a case of nasty batch of fuel. as long as its not doing anything else wrong other then smelling a lil old theres nothing to worry about after all these cars are old lol

    haha,

I was reluctant to post this topic... It doesn't smell inside the car and no flatulence going on :)
Well, does anyone else have an old-car smell problem with their celi? Anyone else with stinky exhaust?

My GT-S doesn't have the most pleasant exhaust as it seems a little rich, but it really doesn't smell that much different from most modern cars that I've been around. It seems stronger, but not odd. If it really seems off, I'd take a look at the catalytic converter as said previously, or maybe running some Seafoam through it (via the brake line, crank case, and fuel tank, if possible) to try to clean things out. If neither works, you may have some more major issues, but they would probably show up in other ways, too.

Good luck with your Celica :).

well... I don't have my celica serviced other than keeping fluids filled and changing oil. Hum, so if I went to a mechanic and asked them to check out the cat converter, what would I ask them to check? You know, I have never changed any fuel filters on this car. Do you guys/gals change out fuel filters?

I don't have these issues..even though my car is from 1986 and has 200K km's on it...but hey I don't have any cat on it....so cut the cat !

And otherwise...your car is old so why not smell old? ;) jk of course.
