So a lot of stuff has happened in my life lately, leavin little time to work on my cars. But things are finally starting to smooth out again and I'm starting to get back into it. I posted this on another site, but I am still looking for opinions. My question is this, what do you think of fog lights in the body kit? I have included a pic with the car as is and a photoshop with the lights approximately where they would be. I would be using Hella 500FF fog lights and they would be set back in the kit a bit. Thoughts? Cheers, Berg
Most guys put them inside that rectangular opening, but I think wider out, where you want to put them, looks better
IMO it's going to be very difficult to get them where you want them and look weird, unless you intend flattening those vents first. Putting round lights inside the centre vent also doesn't look right, some square ones may work though?
Funny how subtle differences affect the overall look of a car. For comparison, the 165 round fogs look perfect and integral inside the box...
Rick, you're right but ther'e not strickly "in" the box, the lights have their own cutouts Those round ones in the square box don't look right - maybe if they were 2X the size and the box cut around them? Integral - that's the key, same with guys who hang spots from the front of the bumper on 162's, just looks messy.
I'd go to a smaller fog to put in those spots, or photochop in some square ones and see how they look. I am going to do something similar to ESracing's blue car on mine. I'm gonna make a light bar and mount mine infront of the grille ontop of the bumper. More of a rally thing than anything else, but less clutter up front.(Also less likely to get pounded on by rocks.)
I guess I should have been a little clearer about my idea. I am planning to leave the centre opening as is. I would be placing the lights where the vents on either side of the center opening is now. The vents would be removed and the lights would be set in their place. The lights would be set back into the bodykit an inch or two (I would have to experiment to find the right look). They would be moulded in so only the lenses would be visible. I have spent hours trying to find a picture of something close to what I have in my mind. Sadly, the closest I've got is a drawing of an RX7. Not sure what it is from but here: Hope this helps. Cheers, Berg
Arh get what you on about now, I think that will look great. Get those spots nice an flush and it will be a very smart front end.
Here's a picture for you: Different from my idea, but square lights for comparisons sake. Cheers, Berg
Oh, and here's another question. I am planning on using fog lights, but would I be better off with driving lights? It is rarely foggy here but there is a lot of snow in the winter months. Cheers, Berg
Fog lights would work. I had some cheap ass fog/driving lights that worked really well on my old Stealth. I would sometimes just drive with those on at night and forget to turn my headlights on. Anything that is aimed low would help for you. I've found that the higher the headlight pattern in snow, the more snow swirling around you see vs the road infront of you.
I personally like the lights Like in your photoshop. Once integrated into the kit it'll look cleaner. I like the wider set. I gotta admit that even the alltrac lights seem kinda funny to me, but maybe it's cuz i'm not used to them!
