The first car I ever bought, was a 1989 ST Coupe when I was 17. Had some fun in it, and drove it my Junior and Senior years of high school. Although I am a new member here, I was a member on 4gcelica.net way back in the day (see: 2004-2005). Funny thing is, I bought that ST as a birthday present to myself. Fast forward 5 years later, and today I picked up a 1988 GT Convertible for 400$. This one is again a birthday present to myself (it's tomorrow). She definitely needs some TLC; but through some stroke of luck, I still happen to have my coupe still around for parts. So the legacy of my first celica will live on, although this time with some more options and minus a roof. Here she is (better pictures to come): Nothing fancy, but she will be an enjoyable summer car when I get done. P.S. That slushbox will be coming out. My coupe has a 5-spd. in it.
More Pictures Say hello to my missing muffler. Who says a ranger can't tow a car? Here's a good sign, no FRAM orange: and a not so good of sign:
welcome back buddy, i remember the old 4g celica decals, lol havent seen one in years. loving that muffler lol,
Got some more pics for you guys. Somehow we made them both fit in the garage: Not pictured is my roommate's old school tent trailer on the other side of the coupe. Need a new battery now that I killed this one playing with the top : The engine in the coupe: Kind of feeling pretty stupid because I can't get the timing belt off. We're gonna pull the head off the coupe; rebuild it and give it a port and polish, and then its gonna go in the 'vert when we do the head gaskets and whatnot. Looks like the first pic but something is noticeably gone: Not bad for an hour's worth of work. Also got some things cleaned up and ready to get put on the 'vert. Since I have a spare Valve Cover and Intake Manifold, I was thinking I might see how much it would cost to get them both powdercoated red to put on the 'vert.
well got her lowered using the springs from my coupe: The front mud flaps are coming off (a can of brake cleaner won't fit under them lying down): Another shot showing how it makes my roommate's focus look huge:
^right, keep them coming! but, st162s have a surprisingly low stock ride height. love it! the focus really does look like a giant.
I didn't even notice your coupe with lower springs since I can only see it from the back. It looks sweet on the convertible though and how it sits...awesome. get more pics.
nice drop top! and coupe lol love that muffler lol dude with thoughts springs she is super low! yeah most def ive run into subaru guys who tend to have pretty high stock hights ask me if i have drop springs in my celica, the look they get when i say its stock is priceless
yes, yes. my car is as low as my brothers h22 ('01 prelude). and his is slammed to its nuts! lol pretty amazing
wtf no way! i didnt know they were that slow! lol then that means that you can hang with GSR's lol. awesome. i could already hang with my brother on the highway. haha
yeah dude the guy had trouble with 2nd but still i have trouble with 3rd so it was pretty even, but i was a good 2 cars a head of him and yeah i can keep up with wrx's thatis what makes me go wow!, but sti's evos basicly leave me standing still lol and i bet your st is pretty quick
i doubt a stock gt-s can beat a gsr my friend has a dc2 integra with a gsr...thing would definately beat me. his vtec hits really hard and hits at 4.5k to 8.5k lol...they rev too high. if it redlined at like 7.5 it would be more of a fair race.
