Steve, sorry, not dug out the arms yet, will do soon.

Right so the work before the night race event on the 24th started tonight.

Turbo, manifold, and down pipe off, along with alt, rad, fan etc.

The oil leak that has been getting worse is from the oil line the bolts to the line from the block under the turbo, gasket had gone!

Slight leak from the manifold noticed as well, so that needs tighting up.

Turbo it self is fine, new gasket set for the turbo ordered, from Mr T, expensive but with gaskets I dont tend to chance it, been there, had the issues!

Lots of clean up work to do, oil has made quite a mess :-(

Going to fit the oil filter relocation kit and oil cooler now as there is plenty of room.
As down pipe is off, going to re heat lag it, and make an extra heat shield between it and the FMIC pipe.

Exhaust gasket from the d/pipe to the flexi has got shot to bits so that needs replacing.
EGT sensor going into the d/pipe

no 3 is still to lean, will post pics tomorrow, so going to tweak the inj map still further.

plus the alt belt is a bit dodgy so that will get swaped for a new one.

New toyota coolant and new oil filter plus oil. Filter will now be a Ford Cosworth one so much bigger!

pics tomorrow, beer and pizza now

    No Worrie smatey.

you think the BIG st165 oil filter is small, you should see the st185/st205, fair bit smaller again.

2% enrichment on number 2 and 3 seemed to work great for me.

Cheers guys. very noticable that no3 is white from lean running. Wonder if this will change much with the side feed? when that goes on with the worked head.

Incidently, my old stock head is well matched to the stock gaskets, as is the manifold, suprised me, as I was all set to port out the manifold a bit.

with the side feed run the injectors all the same. no variation between them.

Finally got my new gaskets from toyota for the Turbo. Only a week late    :x

Everything hopefully together for the weekend.

Not going to wrap the downpipe, as it will be coming off again soon. Instead I will be saving and the downpipie, and the intake manifold will get ceramic coated instead. 8) 8) 8) should look real smart and perform better than any wrap.

place is about 40 mins, just waiting on the cost, likely to be £200, but its a once done aplication. I intend to keep to the toyota series of Turbos, for my class regs, so no real need to change from stock exhaust manifold. Although it may get a little porting.

Dash will be out in the winter. The exra gauges will be fitted, then I will get the entire think flocked.

Will cut out any reflections, and far more motorsport like.

Hi Rich, wanna see if they will do a cheaper price for two dash boards?
i have a spare here waiting to be done as well.

its a pita to get the dash out as the loom attachs to it in various places.

Yeah def, they work on multiples so as much kit as we can get done.

I am planning on modding the a pillar moulding to fit 2 gauges, plus that centre vent off you for my dash, so I will have at least 3 bits to be done.

Nothing, nothing at all, in fact I am just sitting here thinking what it would be like if i had left the car stock.

I would be richer for a start :D

I dunno, I just have this mad OCD thing to tune and modify cars, even when its only a banger ( the astra for example)

I think stock cars are fantastic, I just dont think I could own and run one everyday.

Thats odd, you would think the hotter climate would see more cooling.

Def I would say its a good upgrade. they are all pretty much the same, ST165, 185 and 205.

Cheers GT2, makes my day when people say that about my car, as its not always easy at all.

Re: My 88 GT4 ST165 Sprint / track car, "old" new pics update

Well just when you think its all plain sailing....

Plan was yesterday, just to bolt everything back on, using the new gaskets, then start tweaking suspension ready for the smooth track at the race this weekend and to add some more fueling to no 3.

    Nah.... trinity dont do simple.
My camera died, so not got pics but.
On checking my turbo, we have the traditional crack in the housing.. Fuck, thats £500 down the drain.. Okay, no problem, lets bolt on my hybrid Supra CT26, its an upgrade so should be fine, we will just have to maybe tweek the fueling and check the actuator setting..
Inspect exhaust manifold, thats cracking, no problem, will use on of my 3 spares. swap studs etc over.
re assemble, turns out the bigger forge actuator on the new turbo has a diff mounting, no bigger bracket made to fix of trans bolt.
Assemble car, prime turbo, get freaking messy with the oil return into the sump. Start car. And there it is.... the turbo bourght second hand, from a "good Source" which has no play etc.. is Fucked seals have gone, A quick blast up and down the road sees me laying more smoke than a steamer..
So plan C is to start again tonight, re strip down front end, and fit less fucked cracked hybrid.
Maybe, just maybe, I can swap cracked housing from otherwise good hybrid for the good one on the blown turbo. Blown turbo will then get sent away for seals to be replaced, £200 quid I aint got at present.
So every evening this week will be spent in the garage.. just great... 4th Gens dont you just love em?????? big thanks to Doug for his help again
