Re: Rev heads work in progress * UPDATE 5th April*

I finally have some updates haha
ok so a few weeks ago my passenger side front split blew. So instantly it was time to replace as driving without music for is a no go.

I decided if im gonne replace them i may aswell upgrade to the speakers i want. So i went out and spent alot of money (to me it is alot anyway) and bought 6.5" splits and 6x9's both Alpine R series as iv always wanted them and heard nothing but good things

my good mate and one of our newest members fyinix87 helped me in a big way to install them, he basically did all the work. He rewired the whole system all i really did was fitment haha.
Door trims were a PIA had to make the whole for the woofer bigger which wasnt to much of an issue but the new tweeters are smaller and he fiddled around for a while trying to mount them, ended up using one of plastic surrounds from the old ones. lined them up the best we could and tighten. They sit like crap atm but they aint going anywhere il make up a plastic piece to sort that.

my temporary parcel shelf, will be getting retrimmed in black vinyl
    [IMG]

the sounds awesome, i think it was money well spent

    also my new(ish) LED Parkers
    [IMG]

and also changed those stupid red lights on the doors that do nothing to clear lense and blue LED looks heaps better and bright as at night
    [IMG]

    and also YAY cupholders
    [IMG]

i been wanting these for quite some time. nothing worse then getting drive through and having to shift gear with a massive cold cup of a drink in your lap.

Nice update, love the speakers and cup holder! Whats worse is getting fast food, putting the drink in the middle compartment, having to slam on the brakes because of some f*** who doesn't know how to signal and having the drink tip over, hit the front of the compartment and having the lid pop up leaving a inch of pop sitting in the bottom....oh wait do you know how to make it worse? Having this happen twice with the same drink (two dummies don't know how to signal) oh and yeah having it happen while being on your lunch break at work. Yes, I was so god damn pissed after missing a huge portion of my lunch break cleaning up pop in 35 degree weather. I can't wait to get some cup holders  .

I'm also fitting LEDs, way nicer but the cops don't like me putting blues in the corners

Where did you get those clear door lenses?

I just mounted my tweeters on the inside of the mirrors but I guess yours have stalks.

For a really pro boot cover, go to a local sign shop and buy a piece of 5 or 7mm ACM (Alu Composite Material) offcut. It weighs nothing and strong as...
You can cut it, bend it, cover it and it will never warp, splinter or rot. I even drilled holes and fitted the original braces underneath.
Forget vinyl, Fleece or felt from the girlfriends sewing shop is waay cheaper and better looking. Just spray the panel with contact adhesive spray and stretch it over.
BTW - remember to file the edges of the ACM or it will cut your hands and material.

jimmy you lie! you didnt tell me bout the clears you said they were different to the 4ths and they wouldnt fit haha.

you have to trim the inner surround though as it comes out further than the clear leanse coz they smaller.
Withe the tweeters i had to mount them there as that where the old tweeters were, i didnt like the idea of having 2 sets of tweeters lol and even more i didnt like the idea of just a hole from where the tweeters used to be.

as for the parcel shelf im not fussed the mdf one was in my other celica so it meant i didnt have to make one haha and theyve actyally done a decent job, also im a lil wanky and like the vinyl look im also wrapping the carpet inserts of the doors and 1/4 trims in vinyl but theyl be a light grey

I used to use MDF but it's heavier than plywood and rots after a while if you don't seal it first with an oil based primer.
If the ACM sags or bends under the weight of your 50 000w speakers, you can always just bend it straight.

to be honest i could care less bout the parcel shelf atm lol. im more focussed on getting the kit all sorted. putting in new suspension and the respray.
Thinking the priming stage might be coming up soon. i started taking lil thing into work for them to 2k prime like mirrors etc.

also i started on this today
    [IMG]

YAY now i just have to ensure i dont get lazy, all thing being equal it will be done, in primer and on the car by the end of next week (fingercrossed)

    Rob.........WHY!
it was all good work til that last post.
I know we aren't supposed to bag each other on here but why are you putting a scoop on your hood?
or is it in preparation of turbo?
I admit i did look into getting one of those scoops once upon a time but the idea of when it rains and having water flood into my engine bay just raised too many safety issues as it'll be flowing right on top of the spark plugs. Still i hope this isn't an issue and if it proves not to be then maybe i can pull one of my old projects out and finish it off, something i started way back when before i even became a member on here.

Re: Rev heads work in progress * UPDATE 5th APRIL*

understandable thoughts but i did think about this. Where its mounted should be directly over the extractors(unless i fucked up). As for water in the pugs my leads seal quite well and the shape of the vent will help keep the water away from the as it slopes forward and the width of the gap is only about 5" at best.
I intend on putting alot of effort into this bonnet, completelys smoothing it in and to the extent of smoothing out, filling and migging up holes from where the the supports have been cut. Also this is being done with my spare bonnet so worse come to worse i decide i dont like it no major loss and im prity convinced people would pay alot more than what it owes me to take it off my hands. Also this way my other celica wich is red aswell will be given a red bonnet and with my old bumper and guard from my good one will be completely red.

and jester the intent is most definately for a gte i already have a 2nd gen lined up for it depending on the blokes finances. as iv said before i have to play it safe with this whole no mods bullshit whilst on my p's so im getting the handling and aestetics done now so when its time to drop in the powerhouse itl have the looks and handling to accompany it.
will keep yaz updated with pics!

edit. jest dont worry i dont take offence and i know your not trying to bag me. Infact i invite anyones criticisms. i want this car to be the best it can be and sometimes it takes other peoples opinions to make ya realise what ya doing wrong. I simply reserve the right to say stiff shit im doing it anyway

looks to me like you are moving in the right direction. although...
make some sort of cap for the vent. otherwise when it rains you motor will be getting soaked and that isn't good.
