Three years later I have just over 51K miles. Most of them are probably from traveling to and from autox events and meets.

Taken downtown Chicago courtesy of my buddy along with his mr2t.

    Nice repair work.
No offense, but for a car with only 42,000 miles, it didn't look mint. Any story behind that?

I'd take a wild guess and say it's just been left out in the weather by it's previous owner... That'll do it to ya!

    Re: celica o0o0o0o

Yeah alman got it right. The previous owner was my uncle. The car was parked on the streets of queens ny for all its life. The bumpers were really beat up b/c its common to bump the car in front or in back of you when you parallel park in the city. It also got minorly sideswiped on the passenger side. Good thing was that he always kept up with the maintenance using amsoil syn and amsoil filter every 3000 miles. Long story short, he was going to donate the car to wherever you donate cars so you can get a nice break when tax time comes around. I told him I was interested and the rest was history.

Oh and the stuff in the trunk was a combination of alot of crap. When I got the car it had all types of fluids like antifreeze, gear oil, engine oil, degreasers, additives, on and on all inside the trunk. Well every single bottle leaked and there was alteast 20 bottles of ramdon stuff. So what you see in the pic is all that stuff mixed with the water that came from the leaking quarter windows. Still to this day my trunk carpet is oily even after washing it and leaving it outside for 2.5yrs. Ill prob throw it out b/c its never been in the car since.

lol gee that's a lot of stuff that was in your trunk - too bad it all leaked. When I got my car my dad put all the oils etc. in a cardboard box but yesterday I found a black milk crate in my basement so I put everything in there including some jumper cables and bungee cords. The crate fits quite nicely in the back right corner of the trunk (well hatch).

^Yeah, all that junk in the trunk would do it.
Nice to see how you've cleaned 'er all up now. Kudos.

    Re: celica o0o0o0o

Im from chicago but my uncle lived in queens. It must have been another beat up and faded red 165 you saw on craigslist haha. Seriously if I lived in the busy part of the city then i wouldnt even bother having a nice car b/c it will just get f'ed up. When my uncle had this car someone tried to steal it a few times. The trunk lock cylinder was all jacked up and they bent up the sheet metal trying to get it out so that was another source of a water leak. The pass side window was broke a couple times along with the rear quarter glass. When I gutted the interior, pieces of shattered glass were hidden everywhere, under the carpet, alot in the doors, under the back seats, etc.

Ohhh I see. Ironically someone did the same to my trunk. And just a couple of weeks ago a Range smashed my corner light and headlamp trim. The joys of ny.. Winter is coming and my paint is going to take a beating since its my daily... but yeah your car in its current state looks great.

I didnt post this up on here yet so I figured id share this with fellow 4th gens, afterall its still the 1st gen 3sgte.

Me and my buddy Doug finished this turbo kit in 3 days start to finish. I mean we worked all day in my garage till 12-1am. Alot more test fitting, cutting, grinding, welding than I originally thought. He did all the finished tig welding and we didnt grind the welds b/c we didnt want to risk weakening them.

We bought all the raw materials from various places online. Flanges/piping were from ATP turbo, oil line fittings from jegs, etc... plus we used all 304 stainless steel for it obvious advantages over mild steel plus it was easier for him to weld.

Turbo we used is a garrett to4e 57trim turbo with a .63ar turbine housing.

    Here are some pics:

    Mockup process, tacking it together:

All tig welded courtesy of Doug:

Haha he did all the welding so he tig'd his name on the manifold:

Installed onto the car and testing equipment added for data acquisition:

Feels like a whole different car with this setup. I still have to get a bigger nozzle for the water/alcohol injection and hopefully this summer get the front mount setup complete.

So go out there and build your own turbo kit!

HP numbers? Dont have any yet. $150 for 3 dyno pulls is a bit much for me at the moment. Im hoping to get a baseline this summer. I still need to get the kit ceramic coated also.
