Stopped at home for about an hour. When I went back out, my car's lock was fubared by a screwdriver. The incompetent bastards couldn't even get in, so at least nothing was taken.

But now my driver's lock is f*cked and it's gonna cost me about $150 for a new lock and re-keying. Grrrr, wish I woulda came out and caught the f*ckers in the act

    Just had to vent.

Wow that sucks man.....time to invest in an alarm with a pager so you can run out there with the kitchen knife next time!

Guess I've been lucky so far. I was driving the 89GTS, but I when I'm in the 165, I always disable it. Like you suggested, I'm gonna have to look into a paging alarm. I've got 3 Celicas, so that may get costly, but it's better than losing a car.

Do you guys have any brand recommendations for a paging car alarm?
I don't really care for remote start or any other features. It just has to page me if someone tries to break in.

Why not just swap drivers and passenger door lock cylinders, not ideal but I very rarely use my passenger side lock and I'm cheap so thats what I would do.

I don't know about that I'd probably end up in jail if I caught some little bastard trying to steal my car. Doesn't seem fair

Another thought is that most car alarms also have power door lock capability so if you get an alarm you can unlock your doors remotely and won't need a key to open the door.

search "fuel cut off switch".....there's your immobilizer

as for a brand of paging alarm...just buy one from china off ebay, they all get made in china anyway and this way you'll save a $50 markup.

My yota was broken into at my home as well... with a screwdriver jammed into the door lock, I know a screwdriver is a regular tool for thieves, but where about do you live Rick89GTS? I live in Abbotsford, BC... and if you live close, there could be an st162 boogy-man out for our cars :(
