Has anyone on this site ever imported a Celica into Canada from the Unites-States? I found some nice Celicas for sale that are within 2 hours of my place, but they are in the states. I’m planning on selling my 4th gen and getting another that has fewer problems. Has anyone done this before and how long did the whole process take?

im pretty sure it depends on the province you live in. what i do know is that my grandpa has a friend that went down to the states within the last year with his trailer and ended up getting a new ford super duty and apparently it was pretty hassle free to get into Ontario all he had to do is pay taxes on it. but u'll wanna look into BC laws i think.

Well, you are lucky, because you have no e-tests in BC you friggin arseholes....so you should be fine.

But talk to a dealership in your area that you trust, they will know all the legalities.

Check out E Bay motors they have alot of info on getting a car into canada from the US.

BAsically you will have to contact Toyota in California and they will send you a letter saying what recalls have been fixed on your car and what recalls are outstanding. You will need to send that document and a copy of the registration to US Customs at the border crossing you are going to use and that documentation has to be at the border crossing 48-72 hours ahead of when you arive.

US customs will do whatever they do and then release it to Canada Customs which will charge you duty & taxes and go over the vehicle and give you a list of things you need to do to make it legal in Canada and a month or so to get the car fixed and inspected at Canadian Tire.

That will allow you to legally register the car in Canada then all you will have to do is to get your provincial safety check.

get the documentations from ICBC with all the car info and then all the US insurance policy or whatever, go get the car present the formes at the border and get the car safety inspected its like $100, then i believe you just take all that and get plates. all celicas are admissible into canada there are olny a couple cars that are not ie. golf r32, vw corrado, most porshes

You can get a booklet from Canada Customs or go online to their website.

Awesome, Thanks for the help guys. I e-mailed toyota to get a copy of the recalls form. I went on the curtoms website and I read up on it. Seems pretty straight forward, but I'm not sure if it's worth the hassel. We'll see when I get back from my trip.. I'm going skiing for a few days in the interior. It's gonna be colt :d

Rey, whats an e-tests? In Vancouver we have an Air Care test.. is it the same?

e-test is an emmissions test so it would basically be the same as an Air Care test. I think they check your exhaust gases to make sure your not throughing out to many harmfull gases.

you could see if any Canadian importers will bring the car from Canada into the US for you, im not really sure what you would havta for that or for buying it here and importing yourself since the car wouldn't be registered in Canada unless u did that... which i'm not even sure u can. but thats a good idea, hope u can figure out how to make it work.
