(I know there is a post somewhere about this but after a quick search and a crying baby i decided it would be a little quickr for me to ask)

Okay so i am finally getting around to doing the wheel bearings in my car, shop was $800 to do them, and because Baby formula and diapers use up all my money (and i am cheep) I am hoping to do them myself.

Any suggestions for me going into this?

and just for the sake of fun, I smoked some guy in a 7th gen Civic, with a turbo this weekend =P

you're suppose to use a SST for this, but maybe others have a work around - a rubber mallot perhaps?

Here's the BGB pages for the front, rear is basically the same process.

Starts on FA7 and continues a few pages.

Remove the hub yourself, take it to a shop with your new bearing and seals. They charge about $40 to press out/in the old/new bearings. Your cost will be about $40 labour + $80 for wheel bearings + $20 seal kit = $140 per side. Here's a link to what I did:

You can cut costs tremendously if you can find the wheel bearings online. I've seen them for about USD$91 for 2 hubs, 2 wheel bearings and 2 seal kits. Here's the thread: http://www.alltrac.net/phpBB2/viewtopic ... el+bearing

And the direct links to AM Auto Parts:

If they won't ship to Canada, I use Blaine Enterprises in WA. You use their US address and put your name on it. They hold the package for you and only charge $3 per package. Well worth it and they are a friendly mom and pop operation. Google them or I can post more info for you.

just checking for wobble isnt enough, my wheel bearing was gone and it made one hell of a noise, and it was as tight as a nut.

Mine too, it was shot to pieces but didn't wobble.
